This is… IN FOCUS
In Focus have been set up to provide the South of England with much needed extra-curricular arts-based learning to at-risk and vulnerable young people. We work with local authorities to implement projects that support, amongst other things, crime prevention, restorative justice, youth diversion and pro-social behaviour models. We also have the ability to deliver sessions to all ages and abilities.
We work with local authorities in the South including; Southampton Youth Offending Services (SYOS) delivering a weekly arts programme that has Arts Award embedded for the last 8 years and supporting their Artsmark journey.
We also work with Hampshire Youth Offending Service (HYOS) and Hampshire Cultural Trust (HCT) to deliver Spring and Summer arts colleges for the last 10 years. We have also worked with HCT and Hampshire CAMHS to deliver multiple programmes with the young people they work with. Other projects have included young people in care, young carers, young LGBTQ+ and those not in education employment or training.
Our team consists of highly skilled artist educators (with a combined experience of over 30 years), all of whom are trained Arts Award Advisors at all levels and some with formal teaching qualifications. All of our team also have their own professional artistic practice.
All of the Youth Offending Services are either on or starting their Artsmark journey and have a large body of their team who are trained in the delivery of Arts Award across all levels. The support of the YOT are fundamental to all the programmes we manage, they help with the smooth running of each session and give the young people a safe environment to learn.
