In Focus Education & Development is growing, can you help?
In Focus Education & Development CiC has been set up to provide the South of England with much needed extra-curricular arts-based learning to at risk and vulnerable young people. We work with local authorities to implement projects that support, amongst other things, crime prevention, restorative justice, youth diversion and pro-social behaviour models. We also have the ability to deliver sessions to all ages and abilities throughout the community.
We work with local authorities in the South including Southampton Youth Offending Services (SYOS) delivering a weekly arts programme that has Arts Award embedded and supporting their Artsmark journey.
We also work with Hampshire Youth Offending Service (HYOS) and Hampshire Cultural Trust (HCT) to deliver Spring and Summer arts colleges for the last 10 years. Additionally, we have worked with HCT and Hampshire CAMHS to deliver multiple programmes with the young people they work with. Other projects have included young people in care, young carers, young LGBTQ+ and those not in education employment or training.
We have delivered programming as part of Tate Exchange; had a chapter we co-wrote included in a Clinks publication and delivered the first ever national Creativity in Youth Justice Symposium.
Our team consists of highly skilled artist educators (with a combined experience of over 30 years), all of whom are trained Arts Award Advisors at all levels and some with formal teaching qualifications. All our team also have their own professional artistic practice.
We are currently looking to expand and grow In Focus having recently taken on our first ever set of premises which will allow us to deliver in a safe space for the young people we work with as well as grow the community work we intend to do.
We are looking for a small group of trustees to work with us to ensure we are maintaining a high level of management both strategically and operationally to help guide us towards our next big steps for In Focus. We have ambition but are realistic about what we can currently achieve as we stand and recognise that to move forward we need other voices.
We are looking for people who have an interest in working with young people creatively to ensure they all have a better chance in life and who can bring something special whether it be specific skills (finance, HR, policy and contract writing, fundraising, business development and delivery) or diversity to our small team – currently we are 2 directors with 2 educational deliverers (everyone is currently freelance). Experience in the creative industries not necessary.
We would love to have a group of trustees who can bring even more diversity to our team, which is currently all white, mix of female, male and non-binary plus some team members with disabilities.
