From January to March 2020 In Focus Education & Development CiC worked on a project, supported by Southampton Violence Reduction Unit (VRU), with a group of young people at Southampton Youth Offending Service (SYOS) to develop a series of posters that portray an anti-knife crime message. Throughout their time on the project they improved their creative skills and worked towards their Bronze Arts Award.

In the exhibition you will find the posters the young people helped create and a number of images created by young people that have worked with In Focus at SYOS over the last 9 years.

Southampton Violence Reduction Unit works with communities and partners across the City to prevent and reduce serious violence. We work to divert and intervene when young people are at risk of being involved in serious violence. Working with In Focus has brought young people most at risk into actively creating Art – developing confidence in themselves and producing these great images.

All the work created by the young people involved in this exhibition have gained their Bronze Arts Award, a recognised qualification from Trinity College London. For more information on the Arts Award please email info@infocusedu.co.uk or visit the Arts Award website – artsaward.org.uk

Below are images from the exhibition, on show in the foyer of Southampton City Art Gallery for the rest of the Summer 2021
